Symposium on Holocaust and Genocide, Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Jerusalem, September 2 - 4, 2012.

 

The Symposium was organised by FES in cooperation with the Avraham Hartman Institute of Contemporary Jewry - Hebrew University, Truman Institute, the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute and the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.  

Renowned academics from Israel, USA, Canada and Germany participated in the event.

The opening evening and concluding roundtable session were open to the public. Any topics discussed and decisions made during closed sessions were presented and summarized. Among others there was a discussion about considering Holocaust as a paradigm in the study of genocide and of current mass violence in Africa in the Great Lakes Region and Sudan.

The initiator of the event, Prof. Yehuda Bauer held the Keynote Lecture. He is also Member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and well-known scholar of the Holocaust.
