We were glad to welcome Arne Lietz, member of the Social Democratic group in the EU Parliament, to Israel this past week. The visit took place in the aftermath of the US decision on the status of Jerusalem.

Among others, Arne met with Avi Gabbay, leader of the Israeli Labour Party, as well as with Secretary General Eran Hermoni, Knesset members Hilik Bar and Mossi Raz, who is also Secretary General of Meretz,  the EU delegation for Israel and Clemens von Goetze, German Ambassador to Israel. The discussions dealt with current trends within the EU regarding Israel, enabling mutual understanding and the strengthening of EU-Israeli relations.

There was also comprehensive exchange with a selected number of partners of the FES, such as Ghetto Fighters’ House situated in Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta’ot and Mitvim, an Israeli think tank on regional foreign policy.
