On Friday, November 11, 2016 we had the honor and pleasure to present Riad Kabaha’s book “The Wadi Has two Banks – My Life Story” in Tzavta Tel Aviv.
Riad Kabaha is the director of the Jewish-Arab Center for Peace at Givat Haviva, a long standing partner of FES Israel. Throughout his whole adult life Riad has sought to build bridges between people – Jews and Arabs, people living on the eastern and on the western side of his divided village Bartaa, Israelis and Palestinians. He has done so with grace, love for the people, and dignity, always striving to understand the other without ever giving up his own identity. The event touched on burning questions of today’s reality in Israel with MK Zehava Galon, MK Ayman Odeh, Mr. Mazen Ghanaim, and MK Eyal Ben-Reuven discussing the current political landscape and possible strategies for a positive change in Jewish-Arab relations as well of society in Israel in general. The second half of the program was devoted to Riad’s personal life, his public activity and the special story of his village Bartaa.
