Briefing Mossawa FES January 2016-3On January 28, 2016 the Mossawa Center and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung held a briefing for the diplomatic corps on the Israeli government decision regarding budgetary allocations to the Arab community and the Arab community’s position towards it. The briefing was held at the FES office. Members of Knesset, representatives of Arab local councils and representatives of the government were invited.

The Mossawa Center presented to the diplomatic corps the budgetary needs of the Arab community and pointed out the gap between these needs and the recent government decision as well as the gaps between allocations to Jewish and Arab localities.

Further presentations were given by Mr. Aiman Saif, Head of The Authority for Economic Development of Minorities at the Ministry for Social Equality, MKs Aida Touma-Sliman, Bassel Ghattas, Zoheir Bahloul and Ksenia Svetlova as well as by Mr. Mudar Yunes, Head of the Local Council of Ar’ara and chair of the association for heads of the Arab Local Councils.

Representatives of foreign embassies in Israel, foundations and the foreign press attended the event.
