
On Thursday, 26th of October 2017, the “Regional Mediation, Sulcha and Dialogue Based Leadership Training” of Givat Haviva, lead by Dr. Ran Kuttner (also academic adviser of Givat Haviva) in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Israel was completed. The course is part of the Givat Haviva Shared Communities Program and included a series of 17 sessions (6 academic hours each) followed by 50 hours of internship work.
21 Jewish and Arab participants from the communities of Umm al-Fahm, Baqa al-Gharbiyye, Emek Hefer, Ma’ale Iron, Zemer, Kafr Qara, Pardes Hanna, Menashe and Megiddo attended. The participants developed and exercised conflict resolution mechanisms based on collaboration, dialogue and non-hierarchical decision-making.
The course enables the participants to deal with conflicts in their own communities but also between neighboring Jewish and Arab populations. The course connects Mediation, Sulcha and Dialogue Based Leadership training. In the end, all participants presented their projects and received their leaving certificate.
