DGB Delegation 2016-10In cooperation with the Israeli trade union federation Histadrut, the FES Israel welcomed a delegation of the DGB-Youth of Niedersachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt and Bremen under the slogan „Changes in society and the role of trade unions“ in Israel. From March 30th until April 8th the young trade unionists met and talked to relevant unionist-partners in Israel and learned more about the Israeli Society. The program included a visit to an industrial company and a company of the Israeli care sector. They also met members of worker councils, the Histadrut and its youth organization. Avital Shapira, Director of International Affairs at Histadrut, informed the group about international cooperation’s of Histadrut.
In order to obtain insights into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and possibilities for a peaceful conflict resolution, they visited the Willy Brand Centre and the Jewish-Arab institute. In addition, the delegation took a tour through Jerusalem and visited the Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem as well as the Ghetto Fighters’ Museum.
