On the 26th of March the international conference “The Power of Words” organized with our partner the Massuah Institute for Holocaust Studies took place at Massuah. We were pleased to welcome Supreme Court Justice (Ret.) and President of the Israel Press Council Dalia Dorner as keynote speaker. The following talks by Dr. Toby Haggith, Director of the Films Department, Imperial War Museum, London and Dr. Noah Benninga, the Hebrew University focused on the importance of words as a documentation tool. The second part of the day dealt with strategies for combating manifestations of racism and discrimination. Jan Krebs from the organization Gesicht Zeigen! in Berlin presented the organization’s educational exhibition 7xjung which is used as a learning space for school student. Adv. Nidal Othman, director of the Coalition against Racism in Israel talked about the cooperation between different communities and population groups in Israel with the common goal to eradicate manifestations of racism.
