Last Thursday the closing Session of the Leadership Course for Arab Women from Taybeh, Baqa al-Gharbiyye and Qalansuwa took place in Taybeh. The Course is intended for Arab Women interested in becoming involved politically.

The Course was organized in cooperation with We-Power, Na’amat and Mossawa.

Amongst the 17 Women which successfully finished the course, two women are candidates in the upcoming municipal elections in Taybeh and Baqa al-Gharbiyye (October 20, 2015).

As part of the program for the the final session of the Course, the Women organized a panel including all three mayor candidates in Taybeh on the topic: “Political and social challenges on the eve of municipal elections in Taybeh”. This was a historical precedent, the first time in the history of Taybeh that women succeeded in bringing all three mayor candidates to sit together at the same Panel.

One of the participating Women said: “This is history in the making, no man would have succeeded in bringing these Candidates to sit around one table. It would be wonderful if we could have organized that event in the center of Taybeh, so everybody would realize that only women can succeed.”
