On Friday, the 04.01.2019, the entire year 2018/2019 of the “Progressive Economists” program met for the first time in Tel Aviv. The “Progressive Economists” course, organized by the Social Economic Academy in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Israel, enables students from Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University to implement social-economic projects in conjunction with public sector institutions.
After a Get-Together with the participants and their mentors, who have a high level of economic expertise and act as the connection between the participants and the ministries, two alumni from last year’s program also spoke and presented their projects: A project in the National Economic Council was dealing with sustainable budgeting under the aspect of socio-demographic challenges. In the other project, the Ministry of Health has been working on solutions to curb food waste.
Now, in the fifth year of the program, the participants have the opportunity to implement projects, for example in the Ministry of Justice, Health, Education or Economics.
Considering the fact that the civil service has hired more than half of all participants after their internship in recent years, we wish the 2018/2019 year good luck and an enriching time in their projects.
