  • Shared Society

Givat Haviva in partnership with FES Israel has initiated several cooperative projects encompassing Jewish and Arab municipalities. The Givat Haviva Shared Communities Program aims particularly to breaking down barriers amongst partners through personal contact and identifying and addressing issues of mutual concern that establish common ground for coexistence.

In that framework and in order to build capacity within the communities themselves, the Regional Mediation, Sulcha and Dialogue Based Leadership Training Course has been created.

The Course aims to achieve following objectives:

  1. To create the first recognized mediation training combined with training in Sulcha, to recognize and take advantage of the contributions of both cultures in the area.
  2. To establish a cadre of conflict mitigation professionals working cooperatively on a regional basis, who will be able to respond not only to disputes within a given community, but also to deal with issues that arise between communities in the region, particularly between neighboring Jewish and Arab communities and their residents.

The Course consists of a three hour introductory session, and will be followed by meetings held at the Givat Haviva Campus, starting on March1, 2016 and until July 19, 2016. Sessions will include both theoretical lectures and role playing.
