On April 12th, 2017, MdB Thomas Oppermann, head of the SPD-fraction in the German Bundestag, came to Tel Aviv as visitor of FES-Israel. Among other representatives of NGOs, he met the director of Peace Now, Avi Buskila. Further meetings took place with opposition leader and chairman of the Israeli Labor party MK Isaac Herzog and with MK Stav Shafir who holds a seat for the Labor party in the Israeli parliament. The meetings led to fruitful discussions and interesting talks about the current situation in Israel, perspectives for the Middle East Peace Process, and challenges and chances facing the political left in Israel.
