Students of the Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem participated in a joint meeting within the frame of the Progressive Economists Program on March 4th, 2016. The program, initiated by the Social Economic Academy, receives active support by FES. The participants, students of the economics currently serving as interns in ministries or administrations, summed up their project work in short presentations.
The students’ activity includes different topics. For instance, a few students work on possible improvements in public transportation, whereas others ask how the dealings with expired food products can be improved. Different questions from areas such as environmental protection, health, infrastructure and housing were discussed throughout the event.
The Progressive Economists Program ‘s goal is to train a new generation of economists that thinks critically, acts socially and represents social democratic values. Aside of the valuable practical experience, the participants receive the required theoretical knowledge serving them for their future work in the public sector.
