The last meeting of the course “Women leadership to promote gender equality in the municipal arena of Tamra” took place on July 14, 2019. The course was conducted in a very fruitful cooperation between FES Israel with the Adva Center and the Department of Promoting Womens’ Status at the municipality of Tamra.

It was very exciting to hear from the participants about the process they had gone through during the course, turning into a homogenous group, developing their personal and collective capabilities and drafting their plans for the future – for significant action in the public sphere in Tamra for the welfare of the community.

We were very glad about to host the members of the Committee for Promoting the Status of Women in Tamra at our closing session: The Committee’s Chairwoman, Adv. Amana Haj, Mr. Jamal Diab, Mr. Nizar Awad and Deputy Mayor of Tamra, Adv. Nidal Othman. We thank the Chairwoman and members of the Committee for their interest in the group’s work and their willingness to cooperate with the group’s women, helping them to implement the initiatives they developed during the course.

We wish great success to all women of the group. We will continue to follow and accompany you.

Many thanks for our excellent cooperation partners: Barbara Swirski, the outgoing Director of the Adva Center, Neta Hamami-Tabib, coordinator of the course on behalf of the Adva Center, Nasrin Shami, the group’s facilitator, and Salwa Kanaan, the Adviser for the Promotion of the Status of Women at the Tamra municipality.
