Opening of Progressive Economists Course Jerusalem 2015The Second Course of the Progressive Economists Program initiated by the Social Economic Academy, launched in cooperation with FES Israel was opened at the Van Leer Institute last Thursday, November 19. The Progressive Economists Program trains the new generation of economists and public servants in Israel. The program endows its participants, economics students, with tools for critical thinking, a deep understanding of the unbreakable bonds between society and economics, policy and social democratic values.

The Progressive Economists Program is part of the Social Economic Academy – a non-profit organization, dedicated to education and training towards local activism and social change in Israel. The program combines studies with hands-on experience, giving students practical tools and resources to lead projects together with a partnered government service or agency – earning them valuable professional experience and connections, supported by a solid theoretical background. The program’s target is to create a new, more socially conscious, generation of economists who will graduate from their studies with a deeper understanding of society, economy and their interfaces.

The Program is designed for Students of Economics (2nd and 3rd year) studying at Hebrew University in Jerusalem or at Tel Aviv University.
