The course “Progressive Economists” is organized by the Social Economic Academy together with the Berl Katznelson Foundation and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Israel and enables students from Tel Aviv University, Hebrew University Jerusalem and Ben Gurion University Be’er Sheva to implement social-economic projects in cooperation with public sector institutions.
The conference with the theme “Introduction to the Economy of Israel” was attended by around 60 students of economics from the three universities. Keynote speakers at the event were Professor Joseph Zeira from Hebrew University and Dr. Varda Shiffer of The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute.
The aim of the course is to incorporate social democratic values and views into the students’ economic education.
In addition, the course prepares students for public service by offering them internships in public sector institutions. During the internship, students work on important projects supervised by the host institutions, giving the budding economists real work experience.
We are very pleased with the great commitment of this year’s participants and wish them and previous years’ graduates continued productive and successful work in professional as well as social fields.
