On the weekend from the 19th to the 20th of January 2018, a seminar for ultra-Orthodox women took place at the Nir Etzion Hotel in the beautiful Carmel mountains near Haifa. The seminar was organized together with our partner organization “Nivcharot – Charedi Women for Voice, Equality and Representation”, a Charedi women’s grassroots feminist social movement geared toward gender equality and focusing on, among other goals, the freedom of expression and political representation of ultra-Orthodox women. The weekend seminar was intended for interested ultra-Orthodox woman and feminist Charedi activists. The objective of the seminar was to connect women from different Charedi communities in Israel, to initiate an exchange of ideas and to encourage the participants to assume a strong and leading role as community activators. At the seminar the participants could network and were encouraged to plan activities to further gender equality in the Charedi sector.
