Last Thursday (June 8) the final meeting of the course “Social Economy and Gender Mainstreaming” organized in cooperation with Adva Center was held at Tel Aviv University.
The aim of the Course was to examine in a critical manner the social-economic situation in Israel and to suggest a gender oriented perspective on different political levels. The other purpose of the course was to analyze the differences in how the socio-economic policy and budgets affect Men and Women.
Throughout the course students prepared Projects that were presented at the closing session and demonstrated the implementation of gender oriented strategies in the formulation of budgets and public policies.
The projects presented at the closing meeting examined amongst others if and to what extent girls joined the science-oriented-studies in the school system in Netanya, the promotion of women in the academic world, the support (or lack thereof) provided to single mother students at Tel Aviv University, the differences inherent in sports classes given to boys and girls in high schools and about the promotion of women in Billiard League in Israel.
