On May 5, Germany’s Constitutional Court ruled that both the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) exceeded their mandates in their actions in recent years.
Does this ruling weaken the CJEU relative to national courts, challenging the EU’s legal and political order? Does it restrict the ability of the German central bank to participate in the common monetary policy? How does it affect the integrity of the euro area and the independence of the ECB?
We had the honor that Dr. Katarina Barley, Vice President of the European Parliament (S&D) and former Minister of Justice took part in the event.
