Shared Society

As a social democratic political foundation we strive to establish a society in which all individuals have equal rights, equal accessibility to resources and all contribute to society.

The long-lasting Israeli-Palestinian conflict puts considerable strain on Jewish-Arab relations inside Israel. In addition, the very diverse and heterogeneous Israeli society constitutes a significant challenge for the building of a shared society. Consequently, we collaborate with a broad spectrum of Israeli NGOs and universities as well as with international partners such as the Club de Madrid with the aim of laying the groundwork for a shared society in Israel.

Building a shared society demands a variety of measures, including the empowerment of minority groups, the establishment of equal rights for all citizens and the facilitation of meetings and cooperation between members of different groups in society.

Our activities include leadership courses for young people from the Arab society in Israel with the aim of building a skilled and well informed leadership that will enhance active participation of Arab Israeli citizens in shaping the destiny of their communities. We facilitate meetings between alumni of both Arab and Jewish leadership courses in order to establish long lasting contacts and partnerships between these young future leaders. In addition we focus on the enhancement of equal rights for Arab Israeli citizens in all fields of life, such as political participation, economy and culture. We contribute to the empowerment of minority groups in Israeli society such as the Ethiopian community, and take measures against racism in Israeli society. These activities include courses for activists and council members, conferences and media campaigns.

In cooperation with Club de Madrid and a number of Israeli NGOs we are working on the development of a nation-wide concept and action plan for a shared society in Israel, while in parallel we partner projects which strive to establish practically oriented partnerships and cooperation between neighboring Jewish and Arab communities.
