Make Room for Peace – Belonging, Partnership and Diversity in Women’s Actions for Peace in Israel
Although women have always played a central role in peace movements in Israel, they usually did not get „a place around the decision-making table“ and are marginalized in decision-making processes until today.
Commemorating 20 years of UN Security Council Decision 1325 Nurit Haghagh and Shiri Levinas are examining the obstacles that prevent women from taking a central part in peace processes. They analyze the connection between the situation of women and concepts such as diversity, belonging and partnership and suggest ways to broaden the circle of influence and cooperation.
The authors underline that despite the many barriers encountered by women activists in Israeli peace movements, they have managed and still manage to make a change in the Israeli conflicted reality.
